(got this idea off a friend's blog - thanks Katrina - who got it off another blog)
Day One-Introduce, Recent Picture and Fifteen Interesting Facts
I'm Melissa. Mommy to 8 year old Xander and partner to Eric (15 years on and off this November). This blog was started as a space to be mine, a space where I can let stuff out. So far it has been helpful. I'm a part-time early childhood educator at a non-profit young parents program. My son is homeschooled. My son has issues. I have issues. Life goes on.
1. My mother was told when I was born that I'd never walk, talk or hear. :)
2. I have identified as more than 2 different sexual orientations at different points in my life.
3. I have stage 4 endometriosis and it pretty much sucks
4. Although I don't see them as often I draw more strength from chosen family than blood relations.
5. My son's last name is mine (and yes eric is his father)
6. I have my mother's last name.
7. Facebook games are my drug of choice
8. I choose isolation over anxiety
9. I miss my friends even though it's hard for me to reach out to them.
10. I love that Xander has so many friends but I am also jealous
11. I worry that Xander's issues will eventually drive his friends away and try and plan as many play dates etc. as possible in an effort to avoid that.
12. Planning learning stuff (curriculum) is fun
13. If I could I'd take a year off to deal with some of my (and Xander's) issues.
14. I love having friends over. I am very excited to have such a big place now (with indoor and outdoor pools) to host.
15. Anything to do with money causes huge amounts of anxiety.
